Minds Idle

Described as “one of the most exciting bands coming up in Sheffield”. Quirky art pop charmers Minds Idle are three childhood friends who went from making comedy shorts as teenagers, to selling out Sheffield’s historic Leadmill with their “cinematic concept pop”. Melodies shimmer with optimism, while pensive lyrics stir up an uneasy sense of bittersweet; “the feeling of putting your shoes on after a day at the beach”. Debut single ‘Harry’ told us a universal tale of imperfect friendship, set to fizzing 80s electro pop. Featured on Radio X and BBC Introducing, the lyrics have since been screamed back at the group at shows across the UK. An art project as much as a band, the members carefully curate and labour over the media and aesthetic surrounding their precious songs; “the music videos have to be seen to be believed”.
