Marples are an exciting, youthful, and prosperous band whose introduction to the music scene began in September 2021. The band consists of 4 members: Joseph Neville (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Thomas Martin (lead guitar), Joe Kneale (bass) and Luke Fieldsend (drums), a late addition who joined the founding trio in July 2022. Each member combines their influences to create an amazing fusion on Indie Rock. Whether it be Thomas’ smooth and elegant, shoegazey influenced guitar lines, or the slick and emphatic rock sound of Joe’s basslines. The band work well to compliment each other in ways which are refreshing and unique.
Starting out, the band managed to land and successfully perform at multiple open mic nights and gigs supporting other bands at local Sheffield venues. Continuing forward with both their performing ability and creation of new material, 2022 saw the band’s official streaming debut with their EP “In The Attic”. Their music began to reach ears far and wide, particularly on a local basis. Their debut EP featured frequently at Hillsborough Stadium at Sheffield Wednesday before the games and at half time. With recording experience under their belt , 2023 saw the release of their debut single “I’ve Been Shown” swiftly followed by their second single “Friends”. After a successfully year in 2024 playing local festivals and headlining a sold out show at the iconic Leadmill venue in Sheffield, Marples continued to prove their staying power with their new single “First Kiss” at the end of the year.
