Emerging from the Manchester underground FEAR OF MARKO (Marcus Anthony Connolly) first surfaced online in 2018, sharing demo’s and short films online, developing a small cult following. Soon becoming known for his expressive lyricism, unique creative direction and experimental production choices, FEAR OF MARKO quickly began to establish himself as a unique voice in the online and UK music scene.
Pulling from his experiences as a working class artist of colour within the music industry, while staying true to his dark yet playful vision of what it means to be a pop star, FEAR OF MARKO has slowly but surely began to carve out a lane for his emotionally charged, electronic noise. Resonating with audiences drawn to his unfiltered and innovative approach to storytelling through music.
Influenced by the melting pot of culture and sounds of the 00’s and 2010’s his music has been described as ‘Saccharine sweet pop with a grunge rock twist’ while lyrically exploring themes of identity, vulnerability,  hedonism and emotional conflict.
Since his debut in 2022, FEAR OF MARKO has built a strong reputation as an electric live performer, bringing his fierce live set to various venues, clubs, and festivals across the UK. Most notably over the course of 2024 with his slots at Latitude and Reading festival. As he continues to release new music and expand his creative vision, FEAR OF MARKO is making way for himself and other working class artists to break through into the industry all the while maintaining his bold, unapologetic approach to pop music
