South London based band Bleach Lab are establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Taking the heart-on-sleeve vocals of Julia Jacklin and mixing it with the opalescent soundscapes of Mazzy Star and Cocteau Twins, Bleach Lab have fused their own introspective yet emotionally frenetic soundscape.
Tipped as ‘Artists to Watch 2021’ by Gigwise, the band released their debut EP ‘A Calm Sense of Surrounding’ in March. The release saw the band rise to prominence after BBC Radio 6 Music added single ‘Old Ways’ to their playlist, with further support from the likes of Clash, DIY, Notion and Dork.
It wasn’t long until Bleach Lab made a return in July with single ‘Real Thing’, which once again grabbed the attention of BBC Radio 6 Music. Hinting more was to come, the band soon shared details of their 2nd EP ‘Nothing Feels Real’ due for release in October. Having previously been praised for their open-hearted emotionality, the EP once again finds the band exploring complex emotions. Produced by Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, The Cranberries) it went on to receive critical acclaim from the likes of Dork, Line of Best Fit and Clash.
