Do Your Chuffin' Bit!

Tramlines is a three day party for thousands of attendees each year however it is our responsibility as a festival to ensure we are working to maximise the ways in which our event makes a positive impact, whilst reducing the negative impacts on Hillsborough Park, the environment and the community.

Here are some of the things we do and ways you can help ensure Tramlines is a sustainable and responsible festival.

Travel

Climate Change continues to be the biggest threat to our planet. At Tramlines HQ we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and lowering our carbon footprint.

We encourage you to walk, cycle or use public transport to get to Hillsborough Park.

For those outside the city, Sheffield is easily accessible from across the country by train. It has regular trains running around the region and considerably further afield.

From here you have a multitude of options… Walking, Cycle, Taxi as well as Bus and Trams that bring you within a short distance of the festival site. All info can be found on the Getting Here section of our Website. We know that some of you will need to drive to Tramlines but if you can share a lift with another festival-goer or better yet, get a car full of you, we can reduce our carbon footprint.

Water

Please bring your own refillable bottle to Tramlines as drinking water is provided throughout the festival site, there is no need to bring large amounts of bottled water with you.

Waste Strategy

Please use our bins and don’t drop litter on the floor, Tramlines is situated on a public park and we aim to protect the natural habitats, ponds and hedges that line the event site. Tramlines is zero waste to landfill with a dedicated team of litter pickers who work throughout the festival and afterwards to leave the park as we found it.

Cigarette butts and filters do not biodegrade and their fibers can take 10-15 years to break down. Each one has to be picked up and we’re yet to find anyone who enjoys this job, please use the bins available or bring a portable cigarette pouch.

Single Use Plastic

We have signed the AIF Drastic on Plastic are working hard to eliminate all non essential single use plastic at Tramlines 2021.

All plastic straws are banned across all bars and traders. All food traders packaging and cutlery will be certified compostable, including paper and cardboard cups, wooden cutlery and stirrers, and paper straws.

All cups used for your bevs in 2021 will be recyclable, biodegradable, compostable and re-pulpable.

We are all aware of the damage micro-plastics have on the environment and the oceans. There will be no glitter or bio-glitter available at the festival this year, we are also asking all festival goers not to bring any.
